Atatürk Airport – İSTANBUL (IATA: ISL, ICAO: LTBA) or formerly Yeşilköy Airport was the international airport located on the European Side of Istanbul. Yeşilköy Airport, where the first air transportation was started in Turkey in the early 1900s, was opened to international air traffic in 1953. On July 29, 1985, the surname of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Turkish Republic, was given to the airport by the then President Kenan Evren.
