Rules / Schedule

RULES

Quadcopter Spec Class

  • FPV Flight
  • 4 or 5 inch frames – 180 to 250 mm
  • 4s to 6s Lipo battery allowed (lihv possible)
  • RGB Leds are mandatory.Colors to be adjusted by judges’ directive. (No minimum number of leds, if your quad is clearly visible from behind, it is enough.)
  • VTX restricted to TBS, Immersion RC or Furious FPV Stealth brand vtx classes only (variable mw output and min 25mw required)
  • NTSC fpv cameras only (for broadcasting limitations)
  • Fixed VTX Frequencies (Channels assigned are to be announced on race day)
  • 4&5 inch propellers, up to 5.5’ max size
  • OSD Display of Pilot’s Name or Alias is mandatory
  • All Pilots are required to record their own DVR and present to the Judges in the event of a objection to the race results.
  • All UAV’s should be adjusted to failsafe position “drop”
  • All Crossfire/R9M users must set their transmitter units to 100mw output power and to “telemetry off” position before any runs.

Practice & Qualifying Rounds

  • All quads participating must pass technical requirement tests to be made before the qualifying round and have their quads marked as valid. No unmarked quad may join the qualifying and elimination races.
  • Number of qualifying runs are to be determined (in terms of pack per pilot) according to the race schedule. Max number of flights possible.
  • Practice and Qualifying are flown as one. Qualifying results calculated by best 3 consecutive laps’ time.Pilots have to complete 3 full consecutive laps to have a valid qualifying time. If a pilot misses a gate or hurdle she/he has to turn back and re-enter the same gate/hurdle (same rule applies to elimination races).
  • Qualifying runs are time based, 1 lipo pack and 3 minutes for each pilot. 4 Pilots fly at the same time. Single runs. Crashed pilot is out.
  • Random qualifying heat matchups. Qualifying heat matchups and frequencies will be published on the web. After the heats are published, pilots will have 30 minutes of free time to adjust vtx frequencies and get ready. There is a waiting time of 3 minutes between heats for the pilots to be ready at flight poisitions. Pilots who do not comply lose their heat position for that round.
  • Pilots may choose to use “co-pilot/buddy” during qualifiers and elimination races. During qualifiers and races, lap counts and other info will not be announced by the judges.
  • In case of failsafe, no rerun or extra battery/qualify slot is given, unless all pilots failsafe at the exact same situation/time, depicting a general problem.

Race / Eliminations

  • At the beginning of each run, the head judge gets visual confirmation from all 4 pilots and gives out the arming command, then the timing judge gives out the audible starting signal.
  • 3 or 4 Lap Races (subject to change according to the final track layout)
  • Double Elimination Runs (Each round is run twice) on each elimination heat. Pilots receive points due to position to advance. (1st : 3 Points, 2nd : 2 Points, 3rd : 1 Point, 4th : 0 Points.) In case of points equality after 2 runs, the pilot with higher finishing position has the advantage. (For example, take 2 pilots who have 3 points, finishing positions are checked, Pilot 1: finished 1st and the 4th. Pilot 2: finished 2nd and 3rd. ;Pilot 1 has the advantage due to finishing 1st.) If the finish positions are identical(ie 2-3, 3-2), qualifying time is checked. Faster Qualifier has the advantage) 2 pilots with the highest points from each round advance to next round.
  • To win or score higher in an elimination round, pilot has to finish the start/finish line first or before others. If all pilots crash in a heat, then the pilot with the most laps wins, If on the same lap, distance counts (not crashing latest, distance covered wins)
  • Pilots may object to the race results by applying to the judge committe. Objections has to be made after the round finishes and before the next round begins (by round we mean 64-32 knockouts, quarter finals, semi finals etc.) Objections must be supported with DVR record (of objecting pilot) and will be held on file. No objection will be evaluated after the next round begins. There will be enough time between rounds.
  • During elimination rounds, jumping the buzzer will be subject to reruns. If same pilot jumps the buzzer 2 times, he/she will be deemed 4th (and excluded from that run) for that elimination run. He/she may join the next run (if this is the first out of two runs)
  • In case of crashes between the pilots at the start before the clearing of the 1st (start/finish) gate, then a rerun will be given. If any pilot crashes by themselves or fails to take off by any means at the buzzer, there is no rerun.
  • In case of a failsafe, no rerun is given, unless all pilots failsafe at the exact same situation/time, depicting a general problem.(in which case judges may decide upon a rerun)
  • In case there is a frequency mixup or a visual problem with frequencies during a run, the judges may check the feed and decide upon a rerun. Unless such call is made by the head judge, all pilots will continue to fly.
  • If a gate or hurdle should collapse during a run, the judges may decide upon a rerun. Unless such call is made by the head judge, all pilots will continue to fly as if the gate / hurdle is there, only to ignore height (but obey position and track direction – ie go over it:) )
  • The Final race will be run in “Chase The Ace” format. (The Champion pilot must finish 1st in 2 runs total, final runs continue until an individual finalist pilot wins (comes 1st) in 2 total runs.)

RACE SCHEDULE

  • Monday, 16. September 2019  : Arrivals for pilots in İstanbul, pickup, transfers and free day.
  • Tuesday, 17. September 2019 : 1st track day for Practice and Qualifiers.
  • Wednesday, 18 September 2019 : 2nd track day for Practice and Qualifiers.
  • Thursday, 19 September 2019 : 3rd track day for Practice and Qualifiers, Elimination races for 64 – 32 knockouts intended in the afternoon.
  • Friday, 20 September 2019 : 4th track day for Elimination races (64 -32 knockouts continued and finished until quarter -16 last pilots- finals)
  • Saturday, 21 September 2019 : 5th track day for quarter finals, Semi Finals and big final.
  • Sunday, 22 September 2019 : 6th track day for special (surprise) races, airshows and trophy ceremony.
  • Monday, 23 September 2019 : Departures from İstanbul.

NOTES

  • All track day schedules are intended to start at 10:00 AM local time and continue until there is available light at the track. That is approximately 19:00 PM local time (sunset)
  • There may be delays due to technical reasons, weather conditions and issues caused by festival organization (no-fly times due to governmental VIP visits etc.) so we have to extend our time as much as possible. Also, regarding this is a 64 pilot event, practice and qualifiers are going to take some time. We wish to fly the most pack possible for each pilot.
